About Associate Professor Paulo de Figueiredo Pires

Paulo F. Pires is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science at Fluminense Federal University - Brazil , Brazil. He received his Diploma (M.Sc.) and his Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Computer Science and Systems Engineering in Computer Science, in 1997 and 2002, respectively, both from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His main research interests include distributed systems, Web Science, and Software Engineering techniques applied in the development of software systems for emerging domains, such as embedded (WSN), ubiquitous and pervasive systems. Dr. Pires has participated in several cooperative industry–university projects as well as research projects in those areas, with funding from several International and Brazilian government agencies, including CNPq, CAPES, FINEP, FAPERJ, Microsoft, Fundación Carolina (Spain), and Australian Government (Australian Leadership Awards - ALA). He has published over 200 refereed international journal articles and conference papers. He has served in program committees of several Brazilian and international conferences. He holds a technological innovation productivity scholarship from the Brazilian Research Council (CNPq) since 2010 and is a member of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC).
