About Associate Professor Lei Chen

Dr. Lei Chen is a tenured Associate Professor and the Graduate Program Director (MSAE-IT) for the Department of Information Technology at Georgia Southern University. He received his B.Eng. in Computer Science and Applications from Nanjing University of Technology, China, in 2000, and PhD. in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Auburn University, USA, in August 2007. Dr. Chen’s research interests focus on the security, privacy, and digital forensics of networks, information, cloud, Big Data, and mobile, handheld, and wireless networks. He has secured over $400,000 to support his scholarly activities, with funding from the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). Dr. Chen has authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed scholarly works, including publications with high-impact journals and conferences, such as the IEEE Internet of Things Journal, Springer Mobile Networks and Applications, IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE GLOBECOM, and IEEE ICNC. His edited book Wireless Network Security: Theories and Practices, published by Springer in August 2013, has received over 19,400 combined downloads. Another of his edited and authored book, Security, Privacy, and Digital Forensics in the Cloud, published by Wiley in May 2019, was ranked #1 in "21 Best New Digital Forensic Books to Read in 2019" and among the "100 Best Network Security Books of All Time" by BookAuthority.
