About Dr. Asaf Varol

Dr. Asaf Varol is a full time Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering at Maltepe University, Istanbul/Turkey. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Firat University, Elazig, Turkey in 1977, Master of Science Degree from Istanbul Technical University in 1979, second Master of Science Degree at Sam Houston State University, US in 2017, and Doctor of Philosophy from Karadeniz Technical University, Trabzon, Turkey in 1983. He was promoted to a full time professor in Computer Science Education at Firat University between 1997 and 2011 in Elazig. Then, he was appointed to a full time professor in Software Engineering at the same University between 2011 and 2020. Lastly, he has promoted to a position of a full time Professor at Maltepe University, Istanbul, Turkey. Since 2013, he has organized the International Symposium on Digital Forensic and Security (www.isdfs.org) every year, which is supported by IEEE. In 2013, he taught Introduction to Digital Forensics and Information Assurance course at Sam Houston State University in the USA at the undergraduate level, and gave various online lectures to the same university between 2018 and 2019.His research interests are in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Robotics, Digital Forensics, Information Assurance, Biometrics, Information Security, Speech recognition, etc. In 2017, he founded the Software and Cyber Security Association (www.softcybersec.org).
